Yom Kippur = fast, pray, forgive

Yom Kippur is a day of repentance, fasting, prayer, and seeking forgiveness, and these verbs and concepts are central to the observance of the holiday.

Since I am teaching Ivrit (Modern Hebrew), and not Biblical Hebrew, I have prepared a video for you, in which I show you how to use those verbs in Modern Hebrew.

One of the most important Hebrew verbs associated with Yom Kippur is "לכפר" , which means "to atone" or "to forgive." Yom Kippur, also known as the Day of Atonement, is the holiest day in the Jewish calendar, and it is a time when Jewish people seek forgiveness for their sins and make atonement for their actions.

The act of atonement and seeking forgiveness from God is a central theme of Yom Kippur, and this word is used in prayers, liturgy, and religious discussions during this solemn day. The root "כַּפֵּר" is related to the concept of God forgiving and pardoning individuals for their sins, and it reflects the spiritual and introspective nature of Yom Kippur.
